Art Appreciation
Twice per school year, volunteers conduct classroom discussions of a specific work or works of art with students in the art room during the students' regular art class. Training materials are provided by the PTA
Audit Committee
The purpose of an audit is to certify the accuracy of the financial records of the PTA. Per Illinois PTA bylaws, an audit committee of at least three (3) members shall be elected by the executive board at least four (4) weeks before the annual meeting in May and complete an audit at the end of the fiscal year or when a treasurer (or other account signatory) changes during the fiscal year.
Birthday Board
Bulletin board located outside of the school nurse's office, which is re-designed monthly to honor students’ birthdays.
Book Fair
A book sale to benefit PTA programs, the Lincoln Learning Center (LLC) and Lincoln families.
Book Swap
An opportunity for children to trade used books with other Lincoln children. Any books that are left over are donated to the school or to charity.
Box Tops for Education
General Mills gives the PTA educational items and cash for their labels.
Character Counts
Character Counts is a school program that teaches students the Seven Pillars of character: citizenship, caring, respect, responsibility, character, trust-worthiness, and fairness. Students in 4th and 5th grades participate in a program called Student Ambassadors, whose activities reinforce the Seven Pillars of character. There are four Student Ambassador groups: Safety, Environmental, Lunchroom, and Service. These groups meet during lunch once or twice per month throughout the school year.
Chess Club
Students in grades K-5 may participate in this club that meets weekly to practice chess and play chess in tournaments. There is a fee for participation.
Community Outreach
Community Outreach works with District 41 parents to provide school supplies, and new or gently used clothing and household items for Lincoln students in need.
Courtyard Garden
This committee maintains the small garden in the area on the north side of the hall leading to the Library, as well as the pots and plantings outside the main school entrance.
Cultural Arts
Special educational assemblies and programs (3-4 annually) are provided by the PTA for the benefit of all students.
Dominick's eScrip Fund-Raiser
For this fund-raiser, the PTA receives 3% of your purchase every time you shop at Dominick's if you sign up and use your Fresh Values card when you shop. Please use ID# 6466609 - Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.
eCommunications
Manages parent e-mailing lists and the Abraham Lincoln PTA website (www.abeLincolnPTA.org) and sends the PTA’s “weekly reminders” emails.
Fifth Grade Drama
Lincoln's club for aspiring actors in 5th grade. Plans and executes an annual production by 5th graders. Requires an additional fee for participation.
Fifth Grade Gift
The 5th grade classes create an artistic remembrance of their years at Lincoln School. You may view gift murals from prior years around the school.
Fifth Grade Service Project
The 5th grade classes host a tea for seniors in our community.
Fitness Night
A night of family fun where students get up and go with fitness activities such as yoga, dodgeball and tai kwan do, and also learn about healthy eating.
Fun Fair
An evening of fun-filled games and activities for students and their families. Students may purchase tickets ahead-of-time for this fund-raiser and its carnival-like games for all ages.
Great Books
A book club for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. The PTA pays for volunteers to be trained through the Great Books Foundation to be book discussion leaders. Classes meet at lunch to discuss a story. Requires an additional fee for participation.
High Interest Day
The PTA pays for and provides the volunteers for this day of activities for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. On this day, parents and people from our community come to Lincoln to share their time, talents, skills, or hobbies with our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Students get to learn about and try new and interesting things that they otherwise may never be exposed to such as: acting, cooking, science experiments, computer programs, yoga and more!
Hobby Night
A fall night designed for children to show their collections at school.
Holiday Store
A winter evening event where students and siblings can purchase small-ticket items to give as gifts during the upcoming holidays.
Hot Lunch
Special lunch days when children can order ahead and enjoy a warm lunch provided by Home Run Inn.
Ice Cream Social
The PTA provides this opportunity for all Lincoln students and their families to get together near the playground at school early in the school year and meet new friends.
International Night
Explore Lincoln's culturally diverse community at this biennial international celebration. The evening includes an opening ceremony, followed by a sharing of traditional clothing, food, artifacts, music and dance.
Kindergarten Open House
An opportunity for next year’s Kindergarten students and their parents to meet teachers, the principal and other PTA members.
Language at Lunch
Students in grades 2-5 have an opportunity to learn Spanish or French during their lunch hour once per week. Requires an additional fee for participation.
Lincoln Directory
The PTA gathers and prints the school's class lists, student addresses and phone numbers and teacher and parent contact information in this printed directory that is distributed in October.

Monthly e-newsletter published by the PTA. You can download the current version on the Documents page.
Lend-a-Hand
Provides meals to Lincoln families that are dealing with a serious illness or a member death in the family.
Lost and Found
This committee helps the school organize and manage the lost and found items located in the school’s lobby.
Market Day
Monthly fund-raising sale of food items from Market Day. Place orders online at www.marketday.org and specify #1273 - Abraham Lincoln Elementary School PTA.
Meet and Greet
Offers everyone an opportunity to learn more about the wide range of PTA committees and programs. Parents can ask questions and sign up for the activities and events that interest them. This event coincides with the students’ opportunity to meet their teachers and school pictures.
Membership
Focuses on raising awareness of the Lincoln PTA's activities and events and promotes membership.
No-Hassle Fund-Raiser
The PTA uses this one-time $50 donation to replace the funds that used to be generated by our wrapping paper sale. If participating in fund-raising activities is not for you, "buy out" by making this donation.
Olympic Day
An all-school athletic event. Near the end of the school year, students compete with themselves and try to improve their scores from year to year.
PTA Web Store
An online application that allows parents to register for PTA events and activities, including hot lunch. Parents can access their account all year to see what they have ordered.
Reflections
An art contest sponsored by the National PTA. Entries range from paintings to photography to music.
Room Parents
PTA volunteers coordinate the school's “Room Parents". Room parent volunteers plan and host three parties a year at Halloween, Winter Holiday and Valentine’s Day.
Scholarship
Lincoln PTA is part of the District 41 PTA Council that gives scholarships to graduating High School seniors going into the field of education.
School Supplies
For this fund-raiser, the PTA sells pre-packaged, personalized school supply kits for students.
Science Night
PTA volunteers plan and run this evening in the winter where all Lincoln students and their families can participate in adult-led hands-on experiments in physics, biology, chemistry and more.
Scrips
For this fund-raiser, the PTA receives a percentage of the value of these pre-paid cards for a wide variety of retailers. You can order scrips cards monthly using the order form on the PTA website and cards are delivered via backpack mail.
SERC
Students participate in activities and programs at school throughout the school year to promote awareness, education, support and acceptance of students with special educational needs within our community. Programs are provided by the Special Education Resource Committee (SERC).
Spelling Bee
SpiritWear
T-shirts and sportswear with the school logo are sold in the Fall and for Olympic Day.
Talent Night
A night of entertainment showcasing the talents of Lincoln students.
Teacher Appreciation
The PTA gives special recognition to Lincoln’s teachers and staff.
Teacher Auction
PTA volunteers plan and coordinate this winter fund-raising evening of bidding on teacher and staff-provided activities and other items.
Third and Fourth Grade Drama

TV-Free Week
Corresponds with National TV-Free Week. Students are encouraged to pledge to shut off the TV for a week. Many family-oriented activities are planned this week throughout Glen Ellyn.
Veterans' Day
PTA volunteers plan this school-wide (in odd numbered years) or 3rd-5th grade (even numbered years) assembly (on Veterans' Day) to honor veterans in our area and all over the world.
Yearbook
PTA volunteers help Lincoln 4th and 5th grade students publish a book of school-year memories to sell to Lincoln students.
